NEW HORIZONS COURSE
The focus of the New Horizons Course is to encourage, educate, and instill confidence for those of you interested in expanding your horizons and service to DAR through leadership. You are ideal for this course if you are someone who is an enthusiastic and dedicated member, who regularly attends chapter meetings and other DAR events, and who wants to learn more about the operation and governance of successful chapters. This course is self-directed with a capstone project in which you demonstrate your ability to lead others to complete your project.
Graduates must complete:
Twenty-one required online modules
Sixteen required about DAR publications and resources
Meetings, Tours and Activities
A Capstone Project
Graduation Final Review
Requirements to enroll:
Completed either the New Members Course (prior to the Van Buren Administration) or the Members Course.
Member in good standing in a SC chapter
Current subscription to the American Spirit Magazine
Complete the enrollment form, (link to Nomination Form) include $10 fee, mail to the State Coordinator at address above
New Horizons Course graduates are eligible to purchase the DAR Member Training Pin and New Horizons Bar. One must complete all course requirements and receive a certificate of completion, as reported to the National DAR Leadership Training Committee by the State Coordinator, to qualify for the pin and New Horizons Bar.
